ETSU Math Graduate Program Comprehensive Exams

The Math Department has a new policy concerning the comprehensive exams!!! The policy, approved by departmental vote on April 26, 2002, states: "During Fall and Spring semesters, any student who has not passed both the calculus comprehensive exam and the linear algebra comprehensive exam, must take at least one of the exams each time they are offered." You are expected to get these exams out of the way your first term, but if you are not successful, then you must continue to retake them until you pass them! Remember that a passing grade is a grade of B (83%) or better.

Both exams will be offered twice each Fall and Spring semester, and once during the summer. It is important that you pass these exams early on, since you may not register for Thesis (MATH 5960) until you have passed both tests.
